Text Email

Text Email allows you to create a plain text only email. Plain text emails just include text and do not include images, font style options or hyperlinks.

Creating a Text Email

  1. Click Emails under the Content Creation menu.
  2. Enter email name in the Create New Email field.
  3. Select Text Email as the Content Type.
  4. Click Create.
  5. Fill in the Properties fields.
  6. Click Continue.
    This takes you to the Content step of the process. The email editor workspace will open.
  7. Create your email.
  8. Click Save or Continue.
    Click Continue to validate and save your work.

iPost will not send emails that have not passed validation.  iPost's validation checks your email message for issues that could prevent your email from being sent. To validate your email, click Continue in the Content Step of the email creation process. 


The table below lists the Text Email configuration properties with their descriptions.

Type a brief description of the email. The email name is what you and other users will see in your email folder. This field is required.
Type what you would like to appear as the subject line of the email when it is delivered. This field is required.

  • Insert Dynamic Content by clicking on the Dynamic Content icon.
  • Insert emojis by clicking the smiley face.
  • Insert personalization by clicking on  the wand.

Dynamic Content and Personalization use the iPost Template Language (iTL).

Folder Location
This field shows the email folder in which the email is stored. If you want to store the email in another email folder, click the magnifying glass and choose a different folder.
Language allows you to select the type of email encoding you want to use. The encoding plays a major role in the way an email will be displayed, especially with respect to special characters in non-Latin languages. This field is required.

  • US English (ASCII)
  • Western Europe
  • Central Europe
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Korean
  • Japanese
  • Russian
Description allows you to enter in additional information regarding the purpose of the email.  The max number of characters allowed is 250.
Email Tracking Parameter
This field will appear in the properties if it is enabled on your account.  It allows you to configure parameters specific to the email that can be used as tracking parameters on a URL or in the body of the email.  Please refer to the Email Tracking Parameter documentation for more information.


Create your email by pasting, typing text or dragging and dropping a text file into the workspace.
You can personalize the email. To insert a personalization, select the Personalize tab and drag and drop the variables in the email workspace.


Preview allows you to view how your email will look by device type, along with how the email will appear for a specific contact or for a series of contacts.

Select the device option in which you would like to preview the email. Towards the bottom right hand corner, you will find the Preview as option. This option will allow you to view the how the email will appear for a specific contact. The options include:

Option Description
User Enter a contact email address with the desired attributes for which to preview the email and click OK.

Note: The contact must be in the system.
Table Click Browse and select the Data Table you would like to use to preview the email. At the top of the preview window you can select a specific contact to preview.
List Click Browse and select the List you would like to use to preview the email. At the top of the preview window you can select a specific contact to preview.


View how your email will look on Desktop, Mobile and Tablet screens. Click on a tile to see how your email will look on a specific device type.

Inbox Previews

Allows you to preview your email across the most popular clients, apps and devices.  To run an inbox preview test, click the Test Preview button.

Client Interfaces
This option allows you to preview how your email will look in the email client’s interface.
Blocked Image
Include a preview of each client with image blocking enabled (where available).
